International Graduate Admission Requirements
Admission to our program is limited to students with outstanding
academic records. You must satisfy the following
conditions:
Be in the top 10% of graduating class. Provide a letter of
recommendation from the Chairman (Head, Dean) of your Department
(School, College, Faculty) of Mechanical Engineering, stating that you
do, or did, meet the above condition.
Provide TOEFL scores. The TOEFL examination is required of all
international students. Your TOEFL score must be above 600 on the
written exam, 250 on the computer exam, or 100 on the internet-based
exam for admission. We will give preference to those students
with TOEFL scores above 600 or 250 depending on the type of exam
taken.
Provide GRE scores. GRE scores should be no less than 400 verbal,
650 quantitative and 3 analytical writing.
You must meet the above requirements. For applicants requesting
admission in Fall, all information must be received before February
1. For applicants requesting Spring admission, all information
must be received before August 1.
The graduate school requires an application fee of $55.00 for all
international students, which must be paid with a cashier's check or
money order made payable to Kansas State University Graduate School for
the amount of $55 U.S. dollars, personal checks will NOT be
accepted.
Students should plan for a minimum 18 calendar month period of study
for the M.S. degree, and 48 calendar months for the Ph.D. degree.
The department may provide assistantships to a limited number of
international students each year. Graduate Research Assistantship
stipends are approximately $1,100.00 per month for 9 calendar months
per year. In addition, students receiving a Graduate
assistantship pay resident tuition, which is approximately 1/3 of the
non-resident tuition. Students who do not receive an
assistantship must have at least $27,829 available each year to cover
all necessary expenses.
