Elements of Nuclear Engineering
This course provides a survey of nuclear engineering concepts and
applications, covering the following topics: nuclear reactions,
radioactivity, radiation interaction with matter, reactor physics, risk
and dose assessment, applications in medicine, industry, agriculture
and research.
Instructor
Ken Shultis (jks@ksu.edu) joined the Kansas State University faculty in 1969, and has since served as a key player in the rebuilding of the nuclear engineering program. Once the only nuclear faculty member in 2000, he is now Nuclear Program Director over a thriving area with more than 60 students and $4.5 million in research. Author and co-author of five books, Dr. Shultis specializes in radiation shielding and interaction effects.
