A Kansas State University research team is prototyping a small, inexpensive remote-control plane as a sensing tool, also known as an unmanned aerial vehicle, to collect environmental data. The team plans to test it over the Konza Prairie Biological Station near Manhattan this summer.

Josh Van Meter, a May 2006 bachelor's graduate in mechanical engineering, Minneapolis, has been named a 2006 Advanced Fuel Cycle Initiative/Generation IV University Fellow. He was one of 12 students chosen from across the nation. Van Meter is now a graduate student in mechanical engineering.
