The K-State SAE Aero Team once again did great at the SAE Aero West 2008 Competition this June in Fort Worth, Texas, placing 2nd overall in the Regular Class event and 2nd for amount of payload lifted (27.31 pounds). The first place team was the Canadian team Ecole Polytechnique De Montreal, making KSU the highest ranking USA team out of the 35 international teams that entered the competition.

This was the KSU team’s first bi-plane attempt and their plane “The Purple Diablo” flew very well according to recently graduated KSU MNE Alum and former SAE Aero team member Curtis Spicer, who piloted the plane during the competition.
