The Center for the Strategic Applications of Nuclear Sensors (SANS) is a center formed through a collaboration between the largest university-based radiation detection design and implementation laboratories in the United States. The participating universities include Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas and Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee. Together, these two universities share resources that allow them to conduct research in nearly all areas of solid state detector research, which includes materials purification, crystal growth, materials characterization, detector design and modeling, detector fabrication, detector characterization, electronics design and support, packaging and testing, radiation testing, shielding and radiation environment analysis, non-destructive radiation testing and characterization, and wireless systems arrays. Each university has subgroup participants in the center, thereby bringing numerous researchers from varied fields together into a single research center. | |
