Ward 11 - Tate NAA Lab, RDIL, and Radiation Measurements Lab

Radiation measurements, detector characterization, activation analysis, and several radiation detection laboratory courses are performed in room 11 Ward Hall. The Tate Activation Analysis Laboratory consists of sample preparation stations, one Ge(Li) detector, and three HPGe detectors. A specimen chute allows for samples to be transported to the KSU TRIGA reactor and back to perform activation analysis. Also in room 11 is the Radiation Detection Instructional Laboratory (RDIL), which is used to instruct undergraduate and graduate students in methods of radiation detection and measurement. The laboratory has standard NIM equipment, numerous detectors of various types, and a recently replenished stock of radioactive check sources. Gamma ray and charged particle detectors designed and built in the S.M.A.R.T. Laboratory are tested and characterized in room 11 Ward. See layout of room 11 Ward Hall.
