How do I get SolidWorks for my home pc?

First and foremost, you will need to connect via Virtual Private Network to campus.  Instructions can be found here.

You can check out a DVD from the office staff in Rathbone 3002, or install it online from blossom's apps\solidworks share - follow these instructions to connect to blossom from off campus.

 Serial #
 9710-0058-0244-2175
 Solidworks License Server
 25734@flexo.mne.ksu.edu
 Cosmos License Server
 7585@flexo.mne.ksu.edu

Choose "Install SolidWorks" from the first menu, then choose SolidWorks Office Premium.
You can opt to install the remaining Cosmos software ONLY IF YOU ARE ENROLLED IN A CLASS THAT REQUIRES IT.

You must either be on campus (wireless laptop, etc) or connected via the campus VPN (see above) to connect to the license server.

Once you have the software installed, you can go to the license manager (in the solidworks folder on your start menu)
and go to license borrowing.  You will be able to borrow a license for up to 30 days. Otherwise, you will need to be connected to the VPN while using SolidWorks.

The options you can borrow are:
SolidWorks
SolidWorks Office Premium

For Cosmos users, you will need to run the cosmos license manager and add the license server (listed above).
You must be connected to the internet while using Cosmos
, as you cannot borrow licenses for it.

Support for the campus VPN is given by the KSU IT Helpdesk http://www.k-state.edu/infotech/helpdesk/
Software installation support will be limited to distance students.  Both SolidWorks and Cosmos are available on campus
in both the MNE and Engineering computing labs.

Only Windows XP (32bit) is supported!
