ME-523 Thermodynamics 2 Download Page

This page contains downloadable files that are used in Thermo 2. These files are generally in an executable ZIP format, which means all you have to do is click on the file name, save it to your disk, and then run it to extract the files. I suggest you save the executable to a new empty directory before running it. Any instructions are in MS Word format or Adobe Acrobat page definition format (PDF). These files will be indicated by the icon . The pdf reader is available free from adobe at their web site. Click here to go to their web site.

Useful Programs and Files:

File Description Download
StanJan DOS-based equilibrium solver. Real useful for solving combustion and other mixture problems. Not real user friendly, though Self-Extracting Archive
PropLib32 C++ routine that contains several callable functions for solving mixture and other problems. It has recently been updated to include water saturation information so it can be used to solve psychrometric problems. Writing the main program is left up to the user, although a sample "main" program is included to demonstrate how to call the functions. This is a 32-bit program, which means it works only on Windows 95 or NT -- NOT Win 3.x! Self-Extracting Achive
PropLib Source code for PropLib. You need this for Win 3.x! Self-Extracting Achive
Grades Current grade sheet in pdf format. The grades are listed by the last four digits of your KSU id number
TheBest When completed, this download will show the best of the programs written in class. NOT DONE YET

Homework Description Due Date Download
HW 1 Air lock that is pressurized with air. Demonstrates the utility of the general form of the thermodynamic laws.
HW 2 Connected tanks that come to equilibrium. This problem covers disjointed control volumes, equilibrium, and entropy generation.
HW 3 Partition between two different species. Covers mixing entropy, temperature equilibrium, constant and temperature dependent specific heats, and entropy generation related to mixing.
HW 4 DOESN'T EXIST -- NEVER DID, NEVER WILL
HW 5 Heaters with and without humidification 4/8
HW 6 Air conditioning, including the infamous swamp cooler 4/15
HW 7 Combustion, including stoichiometry, adiabatic flame temperature, and gas turbine combustors. This might be a good time to download StanJan. 4/22
HW 8 Equilibrium. This is as tough as it gets! Now you really want to download StanJan. 4/29
