You must be running Windows 95 or Windows NT to run this version Franc2DL. The files you have are self-extracting files. Perform the following steps: 1. Create a Franc2DL directory. 2. Put the franc.exe file in that directory. 3. In File Manager (Explorer for 95) double click on the franc.exe file. This will create a Franc2DL.exe file that is the executable. 4. It is easiest to run Franc2DL using a command (DOS) window. Start the command window, and go to the Franc2DL directory. Type Franc2DL. You will be prompted for the path to a problem file (ie., "..\examples\example_1.inp"). Respond with an "s" to the question about a small or big display windows. To continue, follow the user's manual instructions. 5. There are other ways to set up your computer to run Franc2DL. First, you can just double click on the executable. Another way is to associate file types with the Franc2DL executable. Follow the manual directions for either NT or Windows 95. You may want to associate both the *.inp files (for the first time you start a problem) and the *.wdb (restart) files. This way the *.inp and *.wdb files may be placed in any folder and simply double clicking on them will start Franc2DL.
